The Baltimore Orioles acquired Wade Miley from the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, giving manager Buck Showalter a veteran left-hander for his rotation.

"Wade Miley is a workhorse, veteran left-handed starter who likes to pitch and compete," said Dan Duquette, the executive vice president of baseball operations for the Orioles. "We think he will contribute to this year's club with some quality innings."

Seattle received left-handed prospect Ariel Miranda, 27, in the trade. The Cuban pitcher has spent most of the year with Triple-A Norfolk and was 4-7 with a 3.93 ERA in 19 starts.

The Cardinals bolstered their bullpen for the pennant chase, acquiring left-hander Zach Duke from the White Sox for a minor league outfielder.

Duke has appeared in an AL-leading 53 games this season and is 2-0 with a 2.63 ERA. The 33-year-old has 42 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings.

The White Sox get 23-year-old outfielder Charlie Tilson, who's batting .282 with four homers, 34 RBIs and 15 stolen bases at Triple-A Memphis.

The New York Yankees moved quickly to add bullpen help after trading Andrew Miller, acquiring reliever Tyler Clippard from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday.

The Diamondbacks received right-hander Vicente Campos in return for Clippard.

The Yankees and Indians have agreed to a deal that will send All-Star reliever Andrew Miller to Cleveland.

The trade was first reported by Fox Sports and confirmed by ESPN.

The Yankees will get a package of four players in return, headed by minor league outfielder Clint Frazier and pitcher Justus Sheffield, sources told ESPN's Buster Olney.

The Padres have agreed to trade outfielder Matt Kemp to the Braves for third baseman Hector Olivera, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The deal, first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, will become official once both players have completed their physicals.

The Padres are sending $10.5 million to the Braves as part of the trade, a source said.

The Royals announced today that they have acquired outfielder Billy Burns from the Athletics in exchange for outfielder Brett Eibner. Burns is currently at Nashville (AAA) and will be assigned to the Royals’ Triple-A affiliate, Omaha.

Burns, 26, has played in each of the last three Major League seasons with the A’s and is batting .234 with 11 doubles, four triples, 14 stolen bases and 32 runs scored in 73 games this year. His 14 steals are tied for eighth in the American League. 

The Washington Nationals found a reliable pitcher for the ninth inning, acquiring All-Star closer Mark Melancon from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.

Washington sent reliever Felipe Rivero and pitching prospect Taylor Hearn to the Pirates for Melancon, who supplants struggling Jonathan Papelbon as Washington's closer. 

The Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres have completed a seven-player trade centered around Andrew Cashner.

In addition to Cashner, the Marlins will receive Colin Rea and Tayron Guerrero.

The Padres acquired Jarred Cosart, Carter Capps, Josh Naylor and prospect Luis Castillo.

San Diego has already traded away James Shields, Drew Pomeranz, Fernando Rodney and Melvin Upton, Jr.

The Giants acquired All-Star infielder Eduardo Nunez from the Twins on Thursday night in exchange for a minor league pitcher Adalberto Mejia.

Nunez was batting .296 with 12 home runs and 47 RBIs this season for the Twins and was leading the American League with 27 steals at the time of the trade.

The Toronto Blue Jays traded Drew Storen to the Seattle Mariners for Joaquin Benoit on Tuesday night.

Seattle will also receive cash to complete the deal.

Both Storen and Benoit entered the season as setup men, but struggled and lost their jobs.

"I like it," John Gibbons said of the deal. "He can fill a late-inning role, he's a veteran guy and he still has a good arm. This time of year, and with some of the struggles we've been having down there, throw a veteran in there that knows what he's doing, knows how to survive, that kind of thing. Hopefully he'll end up doing just what [Jason] Grilli has done."
